Peru, con mucho gusto.
I came very young to the US, so I never explored Peru much. But when we did explore, I was too young to remember. That’s why when I went back, already an employed adult, I had to go to one of the wonders of the world: Machu Picchu. Because of the altitude I had no idea if I would get soroche, so being a wuss that I am when it comes to nausea, I decided to be safe and got 2 soroche pills at the airport in Lima. I don’t know if it was the pills or the profuse amounts of coca leaves tea I consumed that the trip was a breeze! We left from Lima at the crack of dawn (5AM) and the flight was about 2 hours.
If you ever go to Peru, you MUST try emoliente (which sometimes varies ingredients, but most have: barley, horsetail, flaxseed, alfalfa, broadleaf plantain and boldo. You can choose to also add sugar and lemon to make it even better.) It is the most delicious warm or cold drink you will ever try.
After an amazing time in Cusco, we went back to Lima to spend some time with family.
