The Sketchbook Adventure...

I can’t recall how many times I’ve said “Blegh I hate paint, it’s messy.” (Plus, I loved cmmd+z too much) But for some reason, during quarantine… and watching insanely amount of youtube videos, the clouds opened up in the sky… cast their pink light on me, and ta-da! I got inspired. In the past, I had bought many sketchbooks, all to be stored away into the darkness of the unknown and never to be found again (Still wondering where they went, cause I don’t even remember throwing them out.) ANYway, I had to buy a sketchbook, and made sure to buy a multi-media one so that I could do whatever I wanted with it. Didn’t want to watercolor… felt too off-brand for me, so I got acrylics & markers instead.

I didn’t want to overthink what I put in this sketchbook, I just wanted an outlet. The first spread were just some faces, an instagram photo and a cute bird to warm up. Then, I came about a cute outfit and sketched it out then re-drew it and painted it on the sketchbook. It was fun… something in me lit up. Then I thought of a friend who is constantly nagging me about showing timelapse of my work. Because I mainly work digitally, I feel like it’s boring showing the process… but traditional painting? Girl, I got you.

It’s been truly something to work on a sketchbook as opposed to a screen. I’ve learned to be ok with imperfections… (since there are no undos after you paint… for the most part.) Hello new medium.
